LANCASHIRE’S OLDEST AND BIGGEST PRIDE FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE 20TH ANNIVERSARY WITH A WEDDING AT THE HEART OF THE PARTY

Blackpool Pride is celebrating its 20th anniversary by announcing an extraordinary opportunity for one lucky couple to celebrate their love in the most vibrant way possible.

The annual event was launched in 2006 and is the county’s longest running and biggest Pride festival.

This year the festival will be held on June 5, 6 and 7 with a host of events, musical performances and stalls at Tower Festival Headland on the Blackpool Promenade, in the shadow of Blackpool Tower.

As well as a yet-to-be-announced headline act, visitors will be able to enjoy 90s boyband 911 and pop duo The Cheeky Girls as well as taking part in a parade along the Prom on Saturday June 6

To mark the 20th anniversary, Pride organisers have partnered with wedding celebrant Tracy Jayne Celebrant, to search for a couple to win a bespoke wedding ceremony held centre-stage during the free entry community day on Sunday June 7.

This isn’t just a wedding; it’s a statement of love, identity, and community. We are looking for a couple whose love story embodies the spirit of Pride to exchange vows in front of the Blackpool community.

To enter, couples are invited to submit a maximum 750 words giving details of Their Love Story, explaining why Pride is the perfect setting for theit “I do” and what the Pride movement means to them personally?

Submissions should be emailed to: hello@tracyjaynecelebrant.co.uk with a deadline for entries of Saturday, 4th April 2026.

A dedicated panel will review the stories and create a shortlist. Shortlisted couples will be invited to a friendly chat, either in person or via Zoom, to share more about their vision for the big day. The winning couple will be announced shortly thereafter, allowing plenty of time to plan the perfect ceremony before the June festivities.

Pride organisers are currently reaching out to their supporters and local wedding suppliers, from florists and bakers to outfitters, to help build a full wedding package for our winners.

“I am so excited to help a couple celebrate their authentic selves at Blackpool Pride,” says Tracy Jayne, Celebrant. “Pride is about visibility and joy, and there is no greater joy than witnessing two people commit to one another in a space where they are fully celebrated.”

Angela Buckley, Vice-Chair of Blackpool Pride Festival, said: ““Bringing a wedding ceremony to Blackpool Pride isn’t just about a beautiful day, it’s about unity, visibility and the joy of being exactly who you are. We can’t wait to read these love stories and help create a moment that this couple and our entire Pride family will never forget.

“Blackpool Pride has always been a protest, a celebration, and above all, a home for our community. We are excited to partner with Tracy Jayne to offer one couple the chance to declare their love right at the heart of our 2026 festival.

A Note on the Ceremony

The ceremony will be a beautiful, bespoke Celebrant-led wedding conducted by Tracy Jayne. Entrants should note that while this ceremony is a meaningful and public declaration of love, the winning couple will need to visit a registrar’s office before or after the event to complete the legal paperwork if they wish for the marriage to be legally recognised.
